You need to go into administratror tools within the operating system. Select Computer Management, Shared Folders, Open Files and see if the Access Database in question is open. This has to be done on the computer that has the database file. If it shows up on the list of open files, select all instances and select close / disconnect open files. This should allow you to compact and repair the database if needed or simply remove it.
