Microsoft Access?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Hi,
Does anyone know of a free online tutorials for building a database in Microsoft Access 2003, or some REALLY comprehensive instructions..
I have built one in Access 1997, but that was 6 years ago and I have completely forgotten how to do it.
Thanks

I would suggest to just open access and start by – New – Table etc. using the design view (where you do most in a graphical way). It is just so easy you don’t actually need any guideance.
But anyway, I’ve found one (see first link).
Also I would recommand learning SQL, it is the language you can use with (almost) any DB like access, so the knowledge doesn’t go away (and you need it anyway for smart/complex DB data fetching), so use the tutorial I’ve found in the other link (or find another).
Also, for specific problems/tasks, maybe use something like www.codeguru.com
Good luck…

where can i download a manual or a how to guide for using microsoft access 2003?

Microsoft are the best people to learn it from are the people who wrote it.

as one of the other answers says there is a lot of good help available by pressing F1.

These two links take you to the official Microsoft web sites that have lots of tutorials & videos.

Others will offer external sites with good information but as a starting point Microsoft will be the best place to go.

Microsoft Access 2003?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Okay, I have Microsoft Office 2003 installed with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and FrontPage, but NO ACCESS! And I need Access for a lab project that I’m doing for my computer science class. Is there anyway that I can get MS Access 2003 without having to uninstall Office all together?

The version of Office 2003 you have may not include Access. For instance, my version of Office 2002 is Standard, and Access didn’t come with it.

For a few $$ (okay, a bunch of $$), you can buy Access as a separate product and install it into your copy of Office without uninstalling.

DoWNLOADING MICROSOFT ACCESS 2003 ONLINE….PLEASE!!!?

Monday, February 1st, 2010

I have broght 2003 microsoft office with word, excell, outlook and pwerpoint but i need access…can someone please give me a link to a download page for ONLY 2003 access and NOT 2007….thank you! :)

You cannot download the MS Access 2003 demo any longer.

There are plenty of links out there to purchase it, which is the only legal route to obtain this software outside of the demo version.

The MS demo’s are only valid for 30 days, and since MS Access 2007 is the newest version the old 2003 version would most likely not work even if you were to come accross a demo copy of it.

Where can I get Microsoft Access 2003?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I have searched everywhere to find that either it’s discontinued or out of stock. I know that there is 2007 now but I need 2003 (specifically) – ebay doesn’t have it, neither does amazon – any other places? Thanks

I have 2003, but I’m curious why you need this particular version.

When you configure Access you can tell it to open in prior versions. This sometimes don’t require any conversion from your part.

The only problem is when you have used ActiveX Controls that are only available in the newer version. If that is the case you can get the OCX files from the machine you coded the application and register them on the old computer. You do this by looking the broken ("missing") links on the VBA Reference section.

You place the OCX and DLL files on a folder that is for this purpose only. Then you can browse to the directory from the VBA Reference section to fix the broken links. Some DLL’s require registering. There is a command like "regsvr32" that you need to use for this.

Another option is to get the Access Developers Edition and compile the code for a distributable package that can be installed in any computer that needs it. It will contain the Access Run libraries.

If you need more info let me know.

In Microsoft Access 2003, can I create a form that will automatically fill some fields when I enter an ID#?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

For example, if I create a form with CustomerID, CustomerName, and amount paid, how can I adjust the form so that if I enter a Customer ID, the Customer Name will automatically fill in?

Yes i cant remember at the minute how its done but have used it may times (getting old lol) you then import the information that you need from a data base and let it fill in the blanks.

useful for mass letters but still including the clients personal details

Sorry cant help more,.,.
