This demonstration shows working code to automate the adding of items on a drop down list when they are not found on the list. The code demonstrates how to detect when the item the user is trying to enter is not on the list. The code then gets the user’s permission to add the item and take the user to a form where the item is entered for the person. When the user closes the form, the user is taken back to the combo box (drop down list) which has been refreshed and the newly added item has been selected. Example file will work in versions of Microsoft Access 97, 2000, 2002, 2007. Found at:
